Neibla Priego

Postdoc

Neibla was born in Madrid (1987). When she finished her degree in Pharmacy (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, UCM) she decided to get to know the insights of Molecular Biology in more detail. While doing the Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine Master Degree at UCM, she started to work in the laboratory of Dr. Porras as a Master Thesis student. Her thesis was awarded with the best distinction. Neibla obtained a FPU fellowship to continue her PhD studies in the same laboratory. During this period (2012-2016) Neibla was focused on the analysis of important cancer signaling pathways connected to p38 in colorectal cancer. Her work was presented at national and international conferences and published in leading journals in the field. During her PhD training, she visited other laboratories (CIC, Salamanca and KU, Leuven) where she got the opportunity to learn and broaden her technical capabilities with experts in the field. Neibla was awarded with the PhD in February 2016 and joined the Brain Metastasis Group in April of the same year as a Postdoc. She is applying her previous background in cancer cell signaling to interrogate the molecular bases of brain colonization by cancer cells with a special interest in the interactions with the microenvironment.
